Already paid or shared personal details?

Pause contact and payments. Start with the steps below, then use the checklist for your payment method. Ask someone you trust to work through it with you if that helps.

Start with these four actions

  1. 01

    Stop further payments

Pause transfers, deposits and screen sharing. Do not pay again for a promise of immediate release.

  2. 02

    Verify through a known channel

Leave the supplied link. Contact the organisation through its known website, app or saved number.

  3. 03

Contact the provider and local police

Explain the transaction and timing promptly, ask about available steps and keep reference numbers.

  4. 04

    Preserve original records

Keep conversations, URLs, account details, receipts and a timeline. Work from copies without changing originals.

Choose your situation, then work through the steps

Each method’s checkmarks stay separate on this page. No personal details are submitted.

If personal safety is threatened, prioritise local emergency services. Report scams through official local police or regulator channels, rather than numbers in suspicious messages.

Someone is offering to recover your money?

Pause and verify anyone who guarantees recovery, asks for advance fees, or requests private keys and seed phrases. Pressure after a loss should not lead to another payment.

Reference guidance

This is general public education. Local procedures and provider rules differ; the responsible institution must confirm whether payments can be stopped or returned.
